INTERNAL MINTING.
PROPOSAL FOR NEW ZEALAND. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Dealing with the question of silver coinage, Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., stated to-day - - bad • always
the idea that New Zealand should mint her own silver coinage. He trusted the Government would not have this work done overseas, when it could be performed within the country. It would be nothing short of iniquitous to let the contract outside the Dominion. In any case, the question should be one for open tender, and in the event of a New Zealand firm not being successful the reason should be made public. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce has decided to support the New Zealand Manufacturers' Association in pressing the Government to give New Zealand firms an opportunity of tendering.
