STERLING IN FRANCE. PARIS, May 1. The pound sterling was quoted on tlie Paris Bourse to-day at 84.60 francs and later touched 81, the lowest rate since December. This is attributed to heavy selling of sterling by the Exchange Equalisation Fund. Some financial observers say it was done to convince the United States that Britain is determined to counteract the depreciation of the dollar.
