VICTORIA ARCADE.
CITY COUNCIL'S INTENTIONS
One of the first duties of the new City Council will be to decide on what is to be done with the Victoria Arcade, Queen Street, when the lease expires .in September. The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, stated this morning, that a scheme was -under consideration for modernising the building, including the provision of an electric lift. Negotiations were proceeding with tenants who were desirous of renewing their leases. Several offers had been made for the purchase of the block, but there was nothing definite enough for a decision to be made.
