Mr. G. A. McKendrick left for the Southeast night.

Mr. H. R. Cooper has been appointed Crown Solicitor at Palmerston North in succession to Mr. F. H. Cooke, who has resigned. Mr. 11. S. J. Goodman, who was reelected to the position of president of the New Zealand Hockey Association this -week, has held the position for 19 years.

Mr. J. L. Fisher, of the Bank of England, who is touring the Dominion with Mr. D. Ardell, of the Department of Internal Affairs, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. They are at the Grand Hotel.

The Rev. Lan Watson Fraser, M.A., son of Mr. Malcolm Fraser, Government Statistician, of Wellington, qualified recently for the degree, of doctor of systematic theology at the Union Seminary of Columbia University, New York. Monsignors J. Cahill and W. J. Ormond, who attended the opening of the Marist Brothers novitiate at Claremont, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Bishop Lis ton, who also attended the function, is in Lewisham Hospital, Christclrurcli.

Sir George Elliot, Mr. E. R. Boucher, president of the Auckland Aero Club; Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Dairy Company, Limited, Sir George Fowlds and Mr. Oliver Nicholson, returned by the Limited from the South this moriiing.
