DICKENS FELLOWSHIP.
The second meeting of the current session of the Auckland Dickens fellowship was held on Thursday when D . Kenneth Gordon supervised the programme, which dealt with chapters 4, o and 6 in the first book of the Tale of Two Cities." Dr. Gordon was assisted with readings contributed by Mrs. Metherall, Misses Simpson, Statham, Bayly, Manning and Mr. T. Clarkson. A feature of the programme was a sketch depicting a visit to the former Bastille prisoner, Dr. Manette, who was engaged m his prison occupation of a shoemaker. A remarkable portrayal of this character was given by Mr. Thomas Vivian. _ Others in the cast were: — Miss Pickmere (Lucy Manette), Mr. Bullen (Mr. Lorry) and Rev. Perkins (Defarge).
