BOXING.

N.B.A. MEETING. LOSS ON LAST TEAR'S WORK. A loss on the year's working of £288 14/7 was reported at the annual meeting laßt night of the Northern Boxing Association, when the president, Mr. G. Bush, was in the chair. Against this, however, was unusually heavy expenditure during the year on the amateur section, including an all-amateur programme of two nights, in addition to the provincial championships, and the dispatch of a team of five to the New Zealand championships at New Plymouth. In addition to that, a deal of assistance was rendered to the various gymnasiums, colleges and boxing clubs in the province. Used boxing gloves were supplied to the local trainers, Sacred Heart College, Takapuna Grammar School, Mount Albert Grammar School, and a new set to the Military Sports Association. The Sacred Heart College and Mount Albert Grammar School were loaned all the association gear for their tournaments. The Grey Lynn Unemployed Association was granted the use of part of the platform and all the necessary gear. The Seddon Memorial Technical College had the ring erected for its tournament on two occasions. The Devonport Returned Soldiers' Association and the Royal Navy were granted the use of canvas, felts and gloves. The Sunshine Club had the loan of the ring. King's School, Remuera, was granted the use of canvas and felts. The Papakura Boxing Club was granted the use of all the gear on three occasions during the year. The Tuakau Boxing Club was granted the use of canvas, felts and gloves. The whole of the plant and gear belonging to the association was in first-class order. Great credit was due to the custodian, Mr. W. Harper, for the very able assistance he rendered to the various clubs and colleges, and In all cases his services were given free of charge. Five professional contests were staged, namely, Mclnnes-Broadfoot, Hughes-Oxley, Hughes-Johns, Como-Oxley and HughesOxley. The report referred to representation of Auckland at the Olympic Games by R. Pnrdie (lightweight) and to the regrettable death of Harry Johns. Sympathy wp.3 extended to the relatives of the latter, and also of two prominent members the association had lost through death, Messrs. W. J. Ralnger and S. A. Smith. The following officers were elected: — Patron, the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe; president, Mr. G. Bush; ex-officio president, Mr. E. A. Craig; vice-presidents, same as last year, with the addition of Mr. W. Dervan; committee, Messrs. P. Burns, W. J. Hammill, B. L. Parrell, W. E. Dervan, R. W. Rugg, D. H. Kirk-Jones, G. V. Thorpe, W. Luke, W. Harper, N. McLean, J. H. Kinnear, C. Crowtherj hon. referees, Messrs. R. Meale, N. McLean; hon. medical officers. Dr. C. C. Murphy, Dr. W. H. Horton; auditor; Mr. C. P. Sanders; hon. secretary, Mr. J. H. Watts; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. Dean; hon. timekeepers, Messrs. C. Cowan, J. K. Douglas. Mr. J. W. Russell, who had resigned from the committee on account of illhealth, was elected a life member. The meeting decided that a New Zealand amateur team would compete at the Australian and New Zealand championships to be held at Sydney next September. It was reported that the association was negotiating with Foreman, the English lightweight, and Kelso and Delaney, Australian lightweights, all of whom are expected to make appearances in Auckland In the near future.
