GRAMMAR SCHOOLS.

AWARDS MADE BY BOARD. The Auckland Grammar School Board met on Wednesday. Professor A. P. W. Thomas was re-elected chairman and Dr. jE. Roberton vice-chairman for a further term. Advice was received that Mr. A. Harris, M.P., had been re-elected as a member of the board by the House of Representatives, and that Messrs. R. Hoe and C. R. Munro had been appointed as the representatives of the Auckland Education Board. On the recommendation o£ Professor Thomas, the following awai'ds were made: John Williamson Scholarships, for upper sixth form pupils working for the University ' entrance examination, or pupils staying another year at secondary school to work for a University bursary—Auckland Grammar School: L. C. Lee, A. C. Gatfield, J. L. Warren, J. L. Strong, L. Robinson, L. H. Hosking. Mount Albert Grammar School: W. H. L. Hedges, W. G. Johnston. Auckland Gills' Grammar School: Betty Drummond. Epsom Girls' Grammar School: M. A. McMurray. Takapuna Grammar School: Marjorie McMurtrie, Betty Kensington. J. C. Mackay Memorial Prizes, to provide books or instruments to pupils for the furtherance of their studies at the Auckland University College, or an equivalent institution: —Auckland Grammar School: M. R. Carter, N. B. Blakey, E. D. Burton, P.. C. Spittal, L. M. Scott, A. K. Wylie. Auckland Girls' Grammar School: Berntine Thrana, Eda Swanberg, Gretchen Bridger. Epsom Girls' Grammar School: Kathleen Sellers, Elsie Cox.
