STRAND THEATRE. The highly entertaining and original comedy, "Pack Up Your _ Troubies, featuring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, will be screened at the Strand Theatre to-day and to-morrow afternoon only. A fine child role is played by . young Jacqueline Lyn, formerly of "Our Gang' comedies. Commencing to-day _at the Strand is a revival of that brilliant and successful Ronald Colman vehicle, "Raffles," in which the popular star was teamed with Kay Francis, the ravenhaired actress who wa3 later destined to make screen history in another Colman film —"Cynara." "Raffles" has a fine story background, inasmuch as it comes from the pen of that master-writer, E. Hornung. CITY SHOWS. The city theatres will include four firstrun films in to-night's changes. These are at the Plaza, where a British comedy romance, "There Goes the Bride," will start; the Civic, where another British film, "Lord Camber's Ladies," will be featured; the Regent, which will screen a fikn version of the famous opera, "Madame Butterfly," and the Majestic, which introduces a policy of Friday change with a thrilling 6ea drama, "Destination Unknown." The St. James' Theatre will continue to show the beautiful Norma Shearer romance, "Smilin' Through," for a further season, while the Strand is offering revivals of "Pack Up Your Troubles" and "Raffles." The National is presenting "The Sign of the Cross," which has been transferred after a fortnight at the Regent. The Roxy and Tivoli, showing "Broadway Bad" and "The Dark Horse" on a dual programme, changed on Wednesday. ALEXANDRA HOME CONCERT. Mr. A. Hamblin gave a concert.at the Alexandra Convalescent Home, Ellerslie, last evening. The programme consisted of songs, duets, dancing and pianoforte solos. The entertainment was the first here there this season. Those taking part wera: —Mme. Dunn, Mrs. Balfe, Misses Balfe, Aldwyth Dunn, Beatrice Balfe and Messrs. Wilfred Smithson, A. Hamblin. Mme. Dunn acted as accompanist. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. G. Bridge, who provided transport.
