CAGE-BIRD SHOW.

Auckland Canary Club. —

Variety of Exhibits.

There was a large variety of gaily and richly coloured birds on exhibition at the Auckland Canary and Cage Bird Club's young bird show, which opened in the Unity Hall to-day. The canaries were of better quality than in previous years, and amongst the other varieties of cagc birds there was an Indian chukor, a thrush, a Californian quail, and a grey and a white Java sparrow. In addition, tlitre were variously coloured budgerigars, which comprised a large exhibit, blackcheeked lovebirds, goldfinches, green finches, zebra finches, and various hybrids. The secretary, Mr. B. Cutler, said that the club was now running very successfully, and the standard of birds was good. This was wholly due to the establishment of the federation of cage bird clubs, which had established rules to which all clubs were obliged to conform. Prize awards follow: — Special Prizes. CANARIES.
