A HOMING FROG.

In one of Australia's coastal corners green frogs are numerous. One frog made his camp in a small cup standing on a bracket in the dining room. He would remain quiet all day, but towards evening he would come out and take his stroll abroad. Time after time he was put outside, but every time he returned to his favourite cup. So one day it was decided to get rid of him for good. A piece of red eilk was tied securely round one of his legs, he was wrapped in a piece of rag, and taken a distance of three miles. It was thought that he would never be seen again. However, within four days he was back in his cup, with the red silk around his leg. The late Professor J. Arthur Thomson wrote that frogs could find their way "home" from a distance of from 200 to 300 yards. This green frog actually found hie way back three miles. These green frogs will often jump from a beam 12ft high to the ground. Before jumping they will inflate their bodies to such an extent that they invariably reach the ground without injury.
