BEAUTY LOTIONS.
In France rhubarb is used for beautifying the hair. Half a cupful of chopped rhubarb is steeped in one and a half cupfuls of white wine to which half a cupful of honey has been added. This is left for 24 hours, and is then strained and bottled. The lotion is used as a hairwash and allowed to dry on. Though non-colouring and quite harmless, it brightens brown hair and brings beautiful lights into dull mouse-coloured locks. But it should not be used more than once a month. Lemon juice is a well-known . beautifier, Mixed with glycerine, it is a reliable bleach. With almond oil it makes a whitening skin food. Mixed with water, it forms an astringent.
