THE CITY COUNCIL.
It is natural that Mr. G. W. Hutchison should wish to stand for' a second term as Mayor, and the deputation that waited on him yesterday is an assurance that he will have a large number uf supporters. . Mr. Hutchison must look forward to completing or advancing work to which lie has put his hand. It takes a Mayor some time to familiarise himself with his task, and, at any rate in times like these, four years should be a minimum of service. A Mayor, however, requires the help of a strong Council, and we may repeat now what was said.the other day as to the need for new blood on this body. Yesterday's deputation was proof of practical interest in our municipal affairs, but more will have to be shown if the city is to get the governing body it needs. It is less than a week to the day on which nominations close.
