EASTER BOWLING.

COMMENCING TO-MORROW.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS.

TOURNEY AND CLUB MATCHES

The usual Easter programme of bowling tournaments will commence to-morrow, the usual autumn fixture of the Auckland Centre being the largest, with a record entry of 152 rinks. The official contest, the executive fours, has attracted 26 rinks, of which section A, comprising 12 rinks, will be located at the Ellerslie green during the three days of section play, and the 14 rinks in section B will play at Epsom.

The 74 rinks in the Easter fours will play on a different green each day, the first day's play for the respective sections being at Hillsboro', Remuera, Auckland, Grey Lynn, Mount Eden, Onehunga and Te Papapa.

The 34 rinks In the junior fours are divided into three sections, and these will play to-morrow at Papatoetoe, Mount Albert and Rocky Nook respectively, each section playir.g on the other two greens on Saturday and Monday respectively. There are 18 rinks in the first-year fours, and one half will play on the West End green on each of the three days and the other half at Balmoral. Any special inquiry during the three days of section play, such as an appeal from a decision of the umpire upon the laws of the game, may be referred to the tournament committee, whose headquarters will be at the Auckland green on Friday, Grey Lynn on Saturday and Mount Eden on Monday. . . All section winners and section ties will assemble at the Carlton green on Tuesday morning at 8.30. In the Easter fours these will go forward on equal terms, whether absolute section winners or only section ties, and post-section play will be ■ conducted on the sudden death principle. Last year 14 rinks qualified in the eight sections, and as there are only seven sections this year, it is very unlikely that more than 16 will qualify. In that case three rounds on Tuesday will again complete this contest, except for the final. In the other threo events any ties will have to bo played off first at Carlton, as only the actual section winners will go forward to post-section play. These should all finish on Tuesday, given fine weather, thus meeting the wish that the tournament should not extend longer than the usual Easter vacation, which for a great many people will end on Tuesday evening. While this record tournament is taking place in the city, the usual provincial tournaments will take place at Cambridge and Whangarci. and the executive of the New Zealand Bowling Council have also granted permits for a large number of tournaments all over the Dominion. _J^ ro " bably the largest of these will be at Dunedin, comprising singles, pairs and rinks.
