The result of the State election is that the Labour party, led by Mr. P. Collier, will have a clear majority, probably of 10, in the next Parliament.

The Premier-elect announced that when his Government assumed office the necessary steps would he taken to give effect to the decision of the people in favour of secession. . The latest referendum figures are as follow: — For secession 107,884 Against 65,703 The Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. J. A. Lyons, has communicated with the Premiers of all States inviting them to express their wisliQs on the question of holding a constitutional \Convention.
