IN MEMORY OF HINKLER.

ITALIAN ACE'S TRIBUTE,

LONDON, April 5,

Because Italian airmen now believe that Mr. Bert Hinkler crashed in the Grecian Archipelago, Captain Robbiano, the Italian air ace, rich and handsome, was to drop his wreath there. Captain Robbiano, before starting on his flight to Australia, said it was believed that Mr. Hinkler crashed at the end of a long hop, probably due to engine trouble, an earlier manifestation of which was prevented by the thoroughness of his preparation. Captain Robbiano will make a detour to Bundaberg to see Mr. Hinkler's mother. - . He added that Italians were interested in the £10,000 London-Melbourne race and were awaiting the conditions of Sir Macpherson Robertson's fine sporting offer. Foreigners specially appreciated the fact that the event was open to the world, showing that the British were ready to compete with any pilots and aeroplanes. He suggested that the race should be a handicap on the lines of the King's Cup, giving a chance to all machines, instead of limiting it to the I fastest.
