The average value of the grouwl, on a basis of gold worth £4 per ounce. per cuhic yard.

mahakipawa return. The return of Jlabakipawa Goldflelds, Limited, Marlborough, for the week was 38oz.

BLACKWATER MINES, LTD. The Blackwater report for March is as £ ° Crushed 15860 tons, yielding 1681 finei oz cold the value of which (taking gold at 110/ per fine oz) is £10,481. Working costs were £5660, leaving an estimated working profit for the month of, WBl2. Development expenditure for tiie month was £So 3. capital expenditure for the month was £ldlo.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Dawn of Hope.—During the past week the timbering was completed in Uie level on the hangingwall branch of the Golden Age reef. The timbers are now loaded in reaainess to stope this block. While doinj? this work a little of the leader was broken down, and some of the stone showed gold freely.

Long Trail Co. report for fortnight ending April B:—The lOOtt level, No. 1 rise was advanced to 30ft, making 7ft for the period. The reef averaged 3ft thick, and the ore gave a nice colour of gold in the dish when prospected. No. 2 reef, low level, east drive, was advanced a further 16ft. This leader has split into two veins, one taking the true course of No. 2, and the other a course running at a long angle tpwards No. 3 leader. Both veins prospect very well. The drive on the west side of the crosscut has been stopped, as the face entered late eruptive rock which covers the gold hearing country. Good values were carried for the full distance. It is proposed to crosscut from No. 3 intermediate to cut No. 2 under the run of ore, as the best values are in the floor of the tunnel, and the reef is increasing in size going down. No. 3 leader was stoped to the surface. The ore obtained was fair value. On April 5 a reef 4ft 6in wide was' discovered close to the Red Trail boundary. Its course is 140 degrees, and it dips at a high angle. Ore tested in the dish gave handsome prospects. We propose to open this new find up as rapidly as possible, as it Is the most important so far discovered on the property. The battery ran for seven days, and a clean up will take place at Easter. Considerable difflculty has been experienced in delivering the ore to the mill. The tonnage can only be increased when better transport facilities have been installed.

Golconda.—During the week nearly all the work was confined to the working of the hnneinswall dropper and we have driven north upon it for 12ft from the bottom of the winze. It should Junction with the reef in another 6ft of driving. Colours and dabs of gold are frequently seen in the ore broken. It is now practically certain that the dropper is intact in the haiiKingwall of all the work done on the reef above and below the intermediate level (that is Mr. H. H. Adams' level). We ha->e hoisted a few tons of ore into the battery bins and have now plenty of storage room for the ore we are breaking. VVe cannot crush and treat the ore until water power is available.
