BEATS EXPERIENCED FIELD.

, The Poverty Bay-East Coast clay-bird championship (single rise) was won at Tatapouri by Rex Oates, aged 13 years, from a field of experienced shooters.- With two others he scored the " possible " of 18, and in the shoot oil broke all five clays, beating the others handsomely. F. L. Joblin, who was runner-up in the single rise match, won the double rise title, after shooting off three times with H. F. Smyth. METROPOLITAN GUN CETJB. The Metropolitan Gun Club held its usual fortnightly meeting on Saturday. There was a good attendance, and some excellent shooting was witnessed, although a strong wind from the left front made conditions very ■ tricky. The chief event was a fifteen-bird match for a club trophy, which was won by F. H. Seceombe on the thirty-eighth bird, after a very exciting shoot off with three others. Results.?— . . No. 1, Seven Bird , Sweepstake.—R. H. Bartley (14yds), J. Miller (14yds), C. A. Whitney (10yds), M. H. Tildall (11yds), and F. H. Seceombe (17yds) all shot the possible, and divided the pool. • . s No. 2, Fifteen Bird Match.—R. H. Bartley (14yds), L. Peterson (19yds), F. H. Seccombe (l-7yds), and J. Miller (14yds) shot the possible, and divided the stake. In the shoot of, Bartley missed the twentieth bird, Petersoi. the thirty-sixth, and Miller the thirty-eighth. Seecombe, having got his bird, won the match. No. 3, Seven Bird Gimcrack.—R. H. Bartley (14-20 yds) and F. H. Seceombe (15-21 yds) shot all their birds, and divided the stake. No. 4, Seven Bird Gimcrack.—F. H. Seccombe (10-22 yds) took first money with seven breaks; R. H. Bartley (15-20 yds), W. E. Grant (14-19 yds), and L. Peterson (16-22 yds) divided second money with six each. No. 5, Seven Bird Match.—F. H. Seccombe (17yds) secured first place with seven breaks. L. Peterson was second with six. On the day's shooting, F. H. Seceombe shot 66 without a miss; J. Miller, 50 out of 52; L. Peterson, 59 out of 64: and R. H. Bartley, 44 out of 4S.
