CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
After being marooned for two nighte on Rakaia Island, in the Rakaia River, a sporting party of seven, including three women, were rescued yesterday when the floods subsided. . They were brought over in a spring dray. In fording the river, two menhwhn. attempted a rescue on Sunday, had a narrow escape, their dray being swept down the river. They had also to seek refuge on the island overnight. All stayed in an old house. . ...
