NINE TAILORS MAKE A MAN.
Might not the above- expression literally mean that at one time it took nine tailors to make a suit of clothes? I know for a fa«t until recent years it took five men, viz., the cutter, the coat- maker, the vest-maker, the trouser-maker and the presser, and, I believe, at one time there was also a buttonhole-maker. There is another expression that fits into the above, that the suit niaketh the man. W. L. HFvIE.
