A Wanganui party of eight women lias just returned from a week'a tour on horseback. Leaving Wanganui, they travelled via Mangamahu, Karioi, Ohakune, Raetihi, Pipiriki, and down the river road. The weather was perfect, and the party thoroughly enjoyed the novel adventure.

At the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last week the presentation of a beautiful mantel clock was made to Miss N. G. Logan, assistant in the office. The Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, referred to Miss Logan's tact and common sense in dealing with the ratepayers, and wished her prosperity. » • * •

Mrs. H. S. Clark left by the Limited for Wellington last evening with her daughter, Mrs. F. W- Doidge, who sails with her husband for England by the Rangitane on Thursday. Mrs. R. H. Stables, sister of Mrs, Doidge, also travelled to Wellington. Mesdames Clark and Stables will return to Auckland after Easter.

Plying solo, Miss Hilda Montgomery, of the Canterbury Aero Club, last week made - a solo flight from Auckland to Christchurch in BGven and a quarter hours' flying time. She began the trip on Saturday, making stops at New Plymouth and Wanganui. Encountering bad weather at Blenheim she decided to land, and spent the night there. The trip south on Sunday was done in the good time of llv 45m, with a following wind. The average for the trip is 2h 10m, Miss Montgomery, who lives at Wairewa, Little River, and Mrs. A. Brustad (nee Aroha Clifford) are the only two Canterbury airwomen with long distance flights to their credit. Lady SteNvart, who was her passenger when she flew to Auckland, intended returning by air with Sir Bruce Stewart.
