Larsen -with interest, and a little amuscP ment, especially the simple way he got over the grievance New Zealand holds regarding \ the high tariff on New Zealand butter. He \ picked on the only commodity New Zealand ; did not purchase from America in our palmy ' days, that was onions. Am I right in assumI ing that had New Zealand bought a few cases of onions no high tariff would have been ' placed on her butter, and the millions of * pounds' worth of motor cars, wireless sets, 1 etc., would have been paid for in butter instead | of hard cash? No, New Zealand has learnt 1 her lesson. America is the first country that L ought to go back to the first principle, live 5 and let live. I sincerely hope that the New Zealand business men will in future concen--1 trate on the slogan "Buy British" and give ' their business to the only country that has stood by our producers, even when we in our stupidity "were pouring our millions into America.
