RACING AT ELLERSLIE.

THE AUTUMN MEETING." FIRST DAY ACCEPTANCES. SMALL FIELDS IN OAKS AND LEGER. With the exception of the Great Northern Oaks the fields for the other events to he run on the first day of the Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting are good, particularly the handicap races. There are nineteen in the Easter Handicap, only half a dozen having dropped out, the chief defection being "Great Star, who won last year. However, his owner has decided to remain at Riccarton and race Great Star at the Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting. Thirteen stand their ground in the Brighton Hurdles, and as they include all the best-performed horses entered for the race, the event should prove interesting. Silver Scorn has only three opponents_ in the Great Northern Oaks, and two in the St. Leger (to be decided on~the second day).
