SALES TAX PUZZLES.
In an endeavour to assist the business community in dealing with the problems arising out of the operation of the sales tax, a handy publication explanatory of the legislation has been prepared by Mr. P. J. Kavanagh, editor of the Law Journal. The work is issued under the authority, and with the approval, of the Customs Department, and there is a foreword by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Customs. There are sections devoted to the wholesaler, the manufacturing retailer, the retail importer, _ the sale value of taxable goods, the imposition and collection o£ the tax, assessments and appeals, recovery of excess or unlawful payments, securities, proceedings, offences, and penalties.
