NEWTON'S NEW REGISTRATIONS
The Auckland Rugby League Board of Control met last evening, Mr. George Rhodes presiding. Mr. D. Wilkie, who. has been a member of the junior management committee for the past two years, was appointed chairman for the coming year. Recommendations from senior clubs regarding the playing of reserve grade teams before top teams, and also in connection with the starting date for the new season, were referred to the incoming board. The Auckland Football Association wrote stating that it was in touch with the Rugby -Union and Hockey Association and the League in 1931 with regard to unfinancial players of one code changing to another code without fulfilling financial obligations. A reply was desired as to whether it would enter into an understanding to debar sucb players, it was decided to meet the request by dealing with each reported case fin its merits. A further letter from the Hawke s Bay League regarding insurance of players and thanking the Auckland League for information supplied, was dealt with. It was decided to adopt the recommendation of the junior management committee in respect to a refund for the rent of the Papakura ground. . New registrations of senior players were approved as follows;-—-C. W\ Morris (ex Kingsland) of Point Chevalier, Roy Bass (Heme Bay), Robert L. Merrick (City), George Patten (Kingsland), G. Jorgensen (Avondale), L. _ T (Mount Roskill), and A. B. Nathan_(late Northland Rugby Union rep.)-all to Newton Rangers. Bass and PatteiVpreviously played for the City Rugby Union The draw for practices at Carlaw Park on Saturday was as follows: No. 1, 2 p.m., City Rovers; 3.30 p.m., Ponsonby United; No. 2, 2 p.m., Marist Old Boys; 3.30 p.m., Newton Rangers. The annual meeting of the .Auckland League is to be held on Monday evening in the Chamber of Commerce.
