ST. ANDREW'S SOCIETY.

The third annual meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the St. Andrew's Society was held on Tuesday afternoon at the League of Penwomen's club rooms, Short's Buildings. There was a good attendance of members. In presenting the annual report to the members, Mrs. D. McCrone, secretary, referred to the primary objfects of the auxiliary for the encouragement of friendship and sociability among the Scottish women of Auckland. The members of the committee were cordially thanked for their loyal support during the past season, which had proved such a success both socially and financially. The financial statement showed a substantial increase on the credit balance of the previous year. The annual report and balance-sheet were then adopted. Mrs. Black, president, also referred to the successful year the auxiliary had experienced. It had always been the aim of the auxiliary to make a donation from its funds to some charitable cause, and this year the auxiliary had enabled three Scots boys to enjoy a holiday at the Y.M.C.A. boys' camp. Two Scottish songs were sung by Mrs. Massicks, who was afterwards presented with a book as a token of remembrance from the commmittee members prior to leaving on a visit to her "ain home toon" in Scotland. The retiring secretary, Mrs. D. McCrone, was the recipient of a crystal stand in appreciation of her services. Mrs. Black was unanimously reelected president for the ensuing year, and was presented with a bouquet of flowers. A delightful feature of the afternoon was the-cutting of a birthday cake, kindly given by Mrs. Black, and decorated with three Scottish kewpies. A visitor from Scotland, Mrs. Buskin, who was passing through Auckland on her way Home again, was handed one of them as a small memento. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs. W. Black; vice-presidents, Mrs. W. H. Tongue and Dr. Gladys Montgomery; hon. secretary, Mrs. David McLaren; committee, Mesdames J-. Barbour, A. Service, T. N. Smalhvood, J. H. Will, A. J. Muirhead, D. McCrone, J. Lornie, G. Spicer, W. McKain and Miss G. Cameron; lion., pianist, Miss L. Braithwaite, L.A.B. Afternoon tea was served and the meeting closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
