AUCKLAND MASTER PRINTERS.

ANNUAL MEETING OF TJZTION. The Auckland master printers held the combined annual meetings ot their union and association last evening in the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Mr. A. JJennisou presided over a large attendance ot' members. In his presidential review Mr. Dennison described the past year as having been particularly difficult in the printing industry. During that period every award connected with the trade had been revised, and the whole industry had required adjustment to meet the changed economic conditions. lie emphasised the opinion that only by the co-operation of members in the solution of common problems would the industry maintain __ its rightful position in the community. Concerning the sales tax legislation as it ailected printers, Mr. Dennison reported that the Government now proposed to classify printers as wholesalers. This he believed to be the classification most favourable to the industry, Mr. Aldridge reported that he had received an assurance from the authorities that the printing plant installed on the University premises would shortly be dismantled. ■ ■ ■ The finances of bnth organisations were shown to be in a satisfactory position, and the balance-sheets wore adopted. Reports were received from the association's delegates to the recent annual meeting of the Federation in Wellington. Mr. B. C. Jacobs congratulated Mr. Dennison on his recent election as president of Federation of Master Printers of New Zealand. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:— President.
