OBITUARY.

MR. S. L. P. RIMMER. A resident; of New Zealand for nearly half a century, Mr. Seth Luther Pierpont Rimmer died on March 26. He was born in Lancashire 74 years ago, and shortly after his arrival in New Zealand married Mi«s E. M. Campbell. There were 6ix children, the eldest eon, Mr. W. C. (Coffee) Rimmer, being killed at the war. It might truly be said of Mr. S. L. P. Rimmer that "he went about doing good." Of a most generous diepoeition, ho was always a friend in time of trouble. Mr. Rimmer is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. E. T. O. Downard, Mr. Keith Rimmer, Mrs. N. V. Allen, Mr. Leslie Rimmer, and Mies Elsie Rimmer. A service wa«j held in the home, hundreds coming to pay reepects to Mr. Rimmer. The Revs. Kempton, Laird, and Fursdon conducted services at the houee and at the cemetery.

MR. PHILIP DAWSON. At tho advanced age of 90 years, Mr. Philip D.twson, of Station Road, Avondale, died on March 29. lie is survived by Mrs. Dawson. In 1930 Mr. and Mrs. Daweon celebrated the diamond jubilee of their wedding. Mr. Daweon was born at Ingham, Kent, England, and arrived in Auckland by the Triumph in 1883, accompanied by hie wife. They later settled at Pahiatua, where Mr. Daweon was postmaster for eight years. He next took up a block of land at Mangahao. Later lie retired and came to live at Mount Eden. Thence he moved to Otahuhu, where for 20 years he was a successful grower of grapes. About 14 years ago Mr. and Mre. Daweon eold their property and went to live at Avondale. In his earlier years Mr. Daweon was in the Navy, and first visited New Zealand in 1861.

MR. W. H. PELLOW. A settler at Onewhero for the last 44 years, Mr. William Henry Pellow, has died, aged 68. He was born in Auckland and at one time worked for Winstone, Ltd. Later he went farming with hie parente at Tuakau. When the Onewhero. block wae opened up he secured a section, to which he afterwards added three adjoining blocks. Deceased married Miss Isabella Brownless, who died in 189 G. Four sons eurvive their parents. •■:/'•■. -■ .. ■

■■;■ REV. W, SGORGIE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, Rev. W. Scorgie died at Wellington on March. 29. Mr. Scorgie ■was born at. Kilmarnock in 1854 and came to New Zealand in 1875. He was educated at Otago University and at the Theological Hall, Dunedin. He was ordained in 1885 and was inducted tae; same year to the charge at Lunwsden. In the following year he took over the charge of Tapanui, where he remained until 1894. Mr. Scorgie then went to St. Peter's Church, Christchurch. In 1899 he accepted a call to Mornmgton, Dunedin. He retired in 1915.
