VICTORIA LEAGUE.
The annual meeting of the Victoria League wae held in the Lyceum Club rooms last evening, when there was a large attendance. After the usual (business 1 procedure had been disposed of the chairman, Mr. J. Alexander, moved a motion of sympathy to the relatives of deceased members, particularly of the late Miss Janet Murray, who was much beloved and respected. Mies Mowbray, who had recovered from her indisposition sufficiently to be present, was reelected president, and the chairman, on behalf of the committees, and members, thanked her for her great work, and expressed appreciation for all that she had done "for the league , through the past years and hoped that for many more she would remain their leading light. Mise Mowbray thanked the speaker and member* and expressed her gratitude, fehe also' wished the league a, happy New Year, and hoped that it would continue to be the tremendous success that it had been in the past. Financially it was holdii,» its .own, and there were 148 new members' on the roll. Mies Mowbray spoke of the aims of the league and what it stands for, and of what great work the home, or mother branch, does to keep the Empire in touch and unity with its sister brandies. The officers were elected as follow:—Vice-presidents, Sir James Coatcs, Sir Walter Stringer, (he Hon. G. J. Garland, Messre. E. Juidersoii, Preston-Chambers, P. Luckie, H Fenton, J. Alexander, H. P. Richmond, 0. Nicholson, Dr. S. A. Stride, Ladv Sinclair-Lockhart and Mesdames R ."Coleman, H. Carr-Rollett, A. E. DevOre, J. M, McLachlan, Edger, J. Reid, Misses Morrison and K. Keesing; council Messrs. W. Crowther, C. C. Chalmers, H ' Goldie, W. A. Harrison, F. S. Townley Little, Mesdames R. A. Bodle, CarrSmith, Hammond. Hyde, Preston Chambers, C. Heather, C. E. Keeble, C. Kisslirig, W. Leatham, J. B. Macfarlane, Hi H. Partridge, L. S. Rickerby, S. A. Stride, H. Thomson, H. W. Wilson, Dr. Misses Chapman, E. Fenton, M. Earl, E. Kent, E: Keesing, C. Murray, A. H. Slator, E. Statham, J. Tapper, Mr. N.' A. Duthie and Mr. H. P. Rich niond were elected hqn. auditor and hon. . solicitor respectively, and votes of thanks were accorded for" their past services. -It was and seconded that Miss, L. Leatham be elected hon. assistant treasurer, and a vote of thanks was accorded her for her past service as an active member of the league. Votes of thanks were given to the"chairman and president, after which a short musical programme was enjoyed, songs being rendered by Miss Nancy Hanna, Madam Hazel and Mr. Geoffrey Laird. Supper was provided by Mesdames Macfarlane, Rickerby and Misses Fenton and Hiatt Slater, of the executive; and the following members acted >p hostesses: Mesdames C. R. Keeble, Abbott, D'Arcy, Devore, J. Alexander, A. B. Roberton, Starks, Corban, and the Mi€SC6 Turner, Walker and Gapper.
