DUNEDIN'S FOURTH SALE. , IMPROVED COMPETITION. i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. About 13,000 bales were offered at tb.B fourth and last Dunedin wool sale of tha season, which was held to-day. The bulk of the offering was comprised of crossbreds from Southern districts. With the exception of a few halfbred and Merino clips which owners had held until this sale, the fine wools offered were generally late shorn, and were consequently rather heavy in condition, and in some cases showed traces of seed. At recent Northern sales, the market had shown a hardening tendency, and at to-day's sale there was a keener and wider demand than at the previous sale in February. At that sale competition from the Continent was restricted, but to-day buyers operated very keenly on all fine crossbreds, halfbreds and bellies and pieces. There was good support from Bradford for crossbreds, and local milk were keen buyers of the few lots of suitable halfbreds -which were on offer. Generally the market may be quoted as firm on recent Northern sales. Compared with the previous Dunedin sale, low and inferior wools were unchanged; good crossbreds were %d a lb higher, and halfbreds %d to Id higher. Growers generally met the market, and passings were infrequent. The official range of prices was as follows:— Merino —- d. d.
