New Zealand Loan and Mercantile report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day beef was penned in large numbers. There was a steady demand for ox beef, which sold at recent values. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in excess of requirements, and was easier in value. Extra choice ox sold to 19/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 16/ to 18/; secondary and plain, 13/ to 15/; prime voting cow and heifer beef, Vof to 17/; secondary, 11/ to 14/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £7 to i/ U>/, heavy, £6 to £0 17/6; lighter, £a to £5 17/6- light, £4 to £4 17/6; small and unfinished, £2 5/ to £3 17/6. Extra heavy prime voting cows and heifers, hi 5/ to £4 17/6; heavy, £3 10/ to £4 2/6; lighter, £2 17/6 to £3 7/6: light, £2 to £2 15/; others, £1 to £1 17/6.
The New Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at the Westfielcl stock market to-day ox beet came forward in pood numbers, and firstclass quality, to meet a steady demand and sell at late rates. Cow . and heifer beef were in full numbers, and sold generally at last week's level. Extra choice ox sold to 19/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 16/ to 18/; ordinary and plain ox, 13/ to 15/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 15/ to 17/; ordinary cow beef, 11/ to 14/; extra heavv prime steers ranged in price from £7 15/ to £8 7/6; heavy, £7 to £7 12/6; lighter, £6 5/ to £6 17/(5: light, £4 17/6 to £6 2/6; unfinished and small, £4 to £4 15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £4 15/ to £6 5/ : heavy, £3 15/ to £4 10/; lighter, £2 12/6 to £3 12/6; light, £1 12/6 to £2 10/.
Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report: —To-day at our weekly Westfielcl fat stock market there were 409 head of fat cattle, as against 418 last week, comprising 201 steers and 208 cows and heifers. Ox beef was up to last week's quotations, but cows and heifers were lower, particularly the former.
