ARTILLERY TRAINING.
THIRD BATTERY AT ROTORUA. The final artillery camp of the Northern Command ended on Saturday, when the Third Field Battery's trainin"- course was completed. The batterywent into camp on the Rotorua racecourse last Saturday week, under the command of Captain M. Johnston, with Lieut. R. C. J. Sanderson second m command. Heavy rain flooded the camp, which had to transfer to the racecouree buildings. There were 60 men in attendance, and the course provided the usual training in riding* driving, gun drill and live shell practice. The latter was held for two days in the Atiamuri Gorge, and was observed from the ground and from the air the aerial observer being SquadronLeader L. M. Isitt, of the Hobsonville base. Predicted shooting by the survey method was also held. The men were given leave in the evenings, and on the final night of the camp a dance was held j in the town.
