MEXICAN RACES.

NEW ZEALAND HORSES PLACED. PILLOW FIGHT AND TEA TRADEK. AGUA CALIENTE, March 26. The New Zealand gelding Pillow Fight to-day ran a thrilling race preparatory to next Sunday's 25,000 dollars Agua Caliente Handicap. He finished third in the Baja California Handicap. Lovers All was first, and Lemon Hills, also a likely starter in next week's classic event, was second. Pillow Fight started slowly, but soon moved out of the pack into eecoiid position. Lemon Hills overtook Pillow Fight in the straight, as the latter fell back steadily. Pillow Fight paid one to three. The course was one mile 20 yards. The winner, Lovers All, is a three-year-old filly owned by the Meadowbrook stable. She went into the lead early, and was never headed, running the distance in 1.40. Lemon Hills finished two lengths behind' the winner. Pillow Fight was two lengths ahead of Satin Spar, who filled fourth place. Tea Trader ran second in the Meteor Handicap over three-quarters of a mile. Sun Dot was first and Sharp Thoughts third. A message from Agua Caliente, dated February 19, states that Quickaway won his sixth straight race here to-day, and set a new track record of 1.10 2-5 in winning an ] invitation handicap at six furlongs, which matched him with Sundot, Lemon Hills, and Tea Trader, the sprinter imported from New Zealand. Sundot was second, a length and a half behind the thoroughbred which John D. Spreckles 111. claimed from Jim Headley of Kentucky a few weeks ago. Lemon Hills finished with a rush to put Tea Trader in last place. A special purse of 300sovs waa posted for the invitation feature. Quickaway has started six times since being brought to the track, and has not been beaten. He equalled the old track record of 1.10 3-5 on February 8, and won the 400sovs Speed Handicap last Sunday in 1.10 4-5. The largest -crowd of the season, approximately 16,000, was present to see Tea Trader match strides with Quickaway. BACK TO FORM. The win recorded by Adventus in the Kairanga Hurdles at Awapuni was impressive, as the chestnut gelding was in front throughout and won comfortably at the finish. It is some time since Adventus figured on the winning list, for he has been off the scene for some months, and he will be: a decided acquisition to the jumping brigade now that he has struck form again. This horse only began racing over hurdles last season, but he did, not take long to make good, eventually beating e. useful field in the Hawke's Bay Hurdles last June. Adventus is just the type to make a successful jumper and more is likely to be heard of him later on. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. W.F.C.—Gay . Court was scratched at 2.30 p.m. on March 20 for the Prince of i Wales Handicap at Manawatu.
