THE PRIME MINISTER.
ARRIVAL IN AUCKLAND. VISIT TO WAITANGI. En route to Russell to attend the meeting of the Waitangi National Trust Board, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. VV. Forbes, arrived at Auckland by the Limited express this afternoon. A number of representative citizens met the Prime Minister on his arrival, and through the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, extended him a welcome to the The Prime Minister was accompanied by Mrs. Forbes, his two daughters, Misses Jessie and Bertha Forbes, his son, Mr. Robert Forbes, and his chief private secretary, Mr. C. A. Jeffery. Following the reception at the railway station, the •Ministerial party * went to the Grand Hotel, and Mr. Forbes subsequently attended a luncheon at the concert chamber arranged in his honour by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. To-morrow morning, the Prime Minister will leave Auckland for Russell to attend the meeting of the Waitangi Xational Trust Board, over which the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, will preside on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday Mr. Forbes will accompany the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, Minister of Native Affairs, on a tour of inspection of native land development schemes, and will probably motor through the Waipoua Forest and arrive back in Auckland on Sunday.
