OBITUARY.
REV. E. S. WAYNE. The vicar of Paparoa, the Rev. Edward Salmon Wayne, died on March 25, aged 62 years. Mr. Wayne received his theological training at Selwyn College, Dunedin, and was on the staff of the Melanesian Mission at Norfolk Island in 1898 and 1899, during which time he was ordained deacon. He returned to Dunedin and received priest's orders, being for a period a curate of All Saints' Church. He then rejoined the Melanesian Mission staff for five years, leaving in 1906 to become . vicar of Ormondville, Hawke's Bay, where he remained for two years. Subsequently he was vicar of Te Kuiti from 1911 to 1914. From there Mr. Wayne went to Waimate North for five years. In 1923 he was appointed vicar at Katikati, and three years later was moved to Waihi. In 1930 Mr. Wayne was appointed vicar of St. Mark's Church, Paparoa. During the time he was at Waihi, Mr. Wayne was for a time honorary canon of St. Peter's Cathedral, Hamilton. MR. GEORGE ILES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, this day. The death occurred early this afternoon of Mr. George lies, well known throughout the Auckland Province as it buyer of wool and hides. He was aged about 37 years, and hie death occurred after a severe illness. He was a prominent athlete and had many times represented the Bay of Plenty at Rugby.
