POLICE PROMOTIONS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Consequent on the retirement of Superintendent W. Eccles from the control of the Dunedin police district, Inspector James Mcllvenoy, who has been transferred to Dunedin as superintendent, will be replaced at Wanganui l>y Sub-Inspector R. Ward, who will be promoted to the rank of inspector. Ward has been in charge of the detective branch at Wellington fci several years. He will be replaeed by Ohief-Detective J. Carroll, of Christchurch, the position of chief detective at Christchurch being filled by Detective W. H. Dunlop, of Wellington.
