PRIZES PRESENTED.

KING'S SCHOOL, REMUERA. HEADMASTER'S ADDRESS. Postponed from last year because of a slight epidemic of muinps, the prizegiving ceremony of King's School was field yesterday afternoon in the Remuera Library. Mr. John Makgill, president of the board of governors, was in the chair. "In epite of the financial stress which has prevailed for so long, I am glad to say that our roll for 1932 showed an increase of 15 over that for the previous year, and that our numbers at the beginning of this year sho*v an increase of 10 over those for the corresponding period for 1932," said the Rev. J. M. Beaufort, the headmaster. "I feel confident that if times were better manymore parents would send their boys as boarders, for the general effect of regular hours, regular exercise, good and healthy nie*Js and the necessary discipline of continually rubbing shoulders wrth their fellows is the very best kind of training a boy can receive." • The result of too much liberty being allowed any boy was detrimental, said Mr. Beaufort. He could not but suffer in the long run. Although growing boys were permitted, not infrequently, to be out late two and three nights a week, high places in form were etill expected. The boy was handicapped, and they simply could not fight against that. It was in anything but the boys' interests. Archbishop Averill, who presented the scholastic prizes, also addressed the boys. The eporte trophies were presented by Mrs. Averill.
