ONE-LEGGED MAN.
ASSAULTED IN CITY.
VICTIM IN HOSPITAL INDIAN SUSPECT ARRESTED. Following a serious assault upon a one-legged man near the Farmers' Trading Company's building shortly after 6 o'clock last night, a suspect, Givan Ganesh, aged 31, an Indian, was arrested at 10.30 p.m. by Constable Carson. Ganesh appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, charged with assaulting Thomas McFadden so as to cause actual bodily harm. Ganesh's right hand was bandaged and in a sling. Detective-Sergeant Kelly, asking for a remand until February 13, said McFadden was rather badly knocked about, and was in the Auckland Hospital. - "This man seems to 'be always in trouble," said the magistrate in remanding the Indian. "Yes, he's a menace and . a pest in tlia city," said Detective-Sergeant Kelly.
