WON £5000 LOTTERY.
RETIRED AUCKLANDER.
PRESENT AT THE DRAW.
The first prize, £5000, in the 106 th New South Wales State lottery lias been drawn by Mr. J. R- Trickett, a former Tesident of Auckland, according to a Press Association cablegram received from Sydney. The lottery was drawn yesterday, and the winner, with his wife, was present. A brother of the winner of the £5000, Mr. H. W. Trickett, is at prefwnt living in Auckland at 33, Symonds Street. He said that his brother was at present able to live on his means. "But, lie added with a smile, "who ever heard ot a present of £5000 going amiss? Anyway, he was generally successful in what he did."
Mr. J. R. Trickett was born at Dalton, England, 38 years ago. He served his apprenticeship in- the engineering trade, and afterwards became a marine engineer. In 1913 he left England for Tasmania, and then two years later came to the Dominion. He served in several capacities both on shore and at eea as an engineer. On one occasion he worked a log-hauling engine in the bush, tie spent a holiday In England in 1924, and. next year went to Canada. In he returned to New Zealand and came to Auckland. After that he served as an engineer with the Portland Cement Company, in which post he remained for six years before coming back to Auckland. His next move was to Tasmania, where he was married last year to Mis* K. D. Allen, of Auckland. With his bride, Mr. Trickett returned to Auckland, and lived at , Symonds Street. Just before Christmas they left for Australia.
