WEATHERSTONES COMPANY. Boring operations in connection with the tests which are being carried out at the present time to determine the depth of the cement deposit at Wotherstones and for the purpose of securing general information regarding the angle at which it dips Into the flat have been progressing satisfactorily. A depth of slightly over 360 ft has now been reached, and it is anticipated that It may be necessary to continue the bore to a depth of 500 ft before the bottom of the cement is reached. An indication of the fact that the cement is gold-bearing throughout is contained in the fact that washings of the core of the bore have revealed slight traces of gold. No attempt to calculate the return per cubic yard at the various depths has yet been made, but when the bore has been completed the amount of gold recovered will be compared with the cubic content of the core displaced during boring operations, and by this means it will be possible to obtain a fairly accurate estimate of the value of the cement from top to bottom. Specifications for the main incline shaift, by means of which it is proposed to work the deposit, are being prepared, and it is intended to call tenders for the work before the, end of this month.
