RETAIL MEAT PRICES.
(From Onr Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Saturday. "If the values of cattle, eheep and pigs continue to rise as they have done during the last few weeks, there must be a r ' s ® in the price of beef, mutton, and pork, declared a Pukekohe butcher in answer to a question by a reporter as to whether the increase in values at Thursday's Pukekohe sale was going to be passed on to the consumer. "A great deal depends upon the prices realised for the by-pr-oduots, which have been selling for some time past at a ridiculously low figure. If stock values continue to soar there is only, one alternative —up goes the retail price. We have no option," he added.
