Heavy Floods in Queensland
Districts. AREAS INUNDATED. (Received 9.30 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Torrential rain along the far northern coast and tablelands of Queensland, rising up to 15 inches in 48 hours, has brought all the creeks and" rivers up in flood and dislocated the railway services. The biggest barrier to traffic between Cairns and Townsville, on the main Brisbane route, is the Tully River, which is five feet over the railway lines and still rising. Boats are being held in readiness by the Shire Council to rescue people endangered by the Tully River flooding. All the streams in a stretch of 150 miles from -Ingham to Cairns are flooded. The residential areas of Cairns aro inundated and the town is isolated.
