BANKING BILL HOSTILITY.

Public opinion on the high exchange question is having so powerful an influence 011 members that the Government may yet have reason to become perturbed over the coming divisions on the Banking Indemnity Bill.
When the Coalition caucus discussions had been completed, Ministerialists were well satisfied with the position. They felt sure of a majority of at least ten members oil a no-confidence motion. This was the position until the weekend adjournment, which gave a large number of members the opportunity of visiting their constituencies, and several have come back showing stronger opposition than ever. Members in semi-rural constituencies have also felt the pressure of town opinion and are now expressing views which give rise to Ministerial concern. 'V. ' „ According to to-day's talk in the lobbies, the accumulation of 37 hostile votes against the Government is now a possibility, but close observers still coneider that the most oppositionists can hope for is 34. However, if there is the slightest risk of the margin being whittled down at the last minute, attention will be devoted to individuals between now and the taking of the crucial division.
