Advice has been received in Auckland of the death of Mr. D. McCaig, ;igod 89 years, formerly superintendent engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company at Sydney. Mr. McCaig, who had been living in retirement in Glasgow, joined the Union Company in 1579. and was a member of the Marine Engines s' Institute of New Zealand for 50 yeais. . His nephew is at present .chief •engineer on the Monowai.
