PACIFIC MANDATES.
Improvement in Situation hi Samoa. HOPE FOR CONTINUANCE. (Received 11 a.m.) GENEVA, January 25. The League Council has adopted the Mandates Commission's report, which hopes Australia will not relax its efforts to bring the whole of New Guinea tinder control despite the difficulty of the country and the hostility of the inhabitants. The commission also notes Sir Thomas Wilford's statement that the political situation in Samoa, has improved, and hopes this will proceed sufficiently to enable the gradual abolition of the emergency measures.
