GAS EXPLOSION.

MINERS BADLY INJURED.

SYDNEY, this day.

Two millers at Balmain colliery were critically injured by an explosion of a : gas poeket. David Kerr and Henry Williams were boring rock with a hand drill when it is presumed a spark from their hammer ignited the gas. Kerr, despite frightful burns, dragged himself some distance to telephone to the engineer at the surface, 3000 feet above.

The cage descended and the men were taken to hospital. There is little hope of their recovery.
