"LEAVE" CARS.

One of the most interesting developments of car-buying is that which enables oversea residents who from time to time go to Great Britain on leave to complete all the arrangements for the purchase of a car before they sail, says the "Daily Mail." It is not necessary for cash to be paid down for the car, as the usual system of hire-purchase applies. All details such as registration, licensing and insurance can be carried out, arid the car is ready to drive away, with British driving license for the owner, when he disembarks at the home port. This service may be extended to foreign ports of arrival. If, for example, the owner intends to explore France before proceeding to England, the car can just as easily be sent over to the French port as to Southampton or Tilbury Docks.

At the expiration of the leave, arrangements are made for the car to be packed up and dispatched at the same time as the owner takes his departure, enabling car and owner to arrive at their destination at practically the same time.

Another scheme enables the motorist, on arrival in Great Britain, to take delivery of a new car with the assurance that at the end of a specified period the suppliers will take back the car at a price which is predetermined, and which, in the case of a fairly lengthy holiday, works out considerably cheaper than „ „ ,• , .
