OLD AGREEMENT.

FOR NORTHERN COAL MINES. The conference between the Northern, coal mine owners and the representatives of the unions terminated in the latter accepting a continuation of the old agreement, a decision which will be submitted to the men for approval. The owners, at the conference, submitted proposals for a reduction of the! wage workers' pay by 5 per cent, and the piece-workers by 74 per cent. The union's counter-proposals were to increase the existing rates by 10 per cent and to vary some of the working conditions.
