FORGERY ALLEGED.

CHEQUE UTTERED AT TUAKAU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Sunday. Smart work by the police resulted in the ,apprehension yesterday of a young man on a charge relating to a cheque, who has a previous list of convictions. On Thursday evening the Pukekohe police received a complaint that a forged cheque had been presented to a business man at Tuakau. The cheque was for £16 • 10/3, and it was stated that goods to the value of £10 10/8 were purchased, the balance being given as change. The police learned that in December two cheque forms had been stolen from a farmer at Ramarama, and that the cheque tendered at Tuakau was one of them. They also learned that the suspect had . headed toward Auckland. Subsequently Richard Howe was arrested and appeared before the Otahuliu Police Court yesterday. The suspect was rdmanded to appear at Pukekohe.
