The British freighter, Exeter City, battled against heavy Atlantic seas on Friday in a storm that cost the lives of the master, the third dfficer and two members of the crew, and damaged her considerably, causing her to flash the S.O.S. signal in early daAvn. The Exeter City was abandoned on Friday afternoon in a sinking condition, according to a report from the liner, American Merchant, which had previously put a line aboard. The Exeter City was built 31 years ago. She was a ship of 2029 tons and of the fleet of the Bristol City Line of Steamships Co.
