Miss Maida Hooker was guest of honour at a morning tea given at tile Tudor Tearooms this morning. The tables were decorated for the occasion with masses of fragrant summer flowers. The Women's Progressive Club, Y.W.C.A., held a children's picnic at Point Chevalier Beach, when the races 'were won by:—Boys' race: First, Denis Storey and Lionel Parr; second, Hugh McDonal and Cyril Hewson. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Laing entertained a number of guests in the Grey Lynn Bowling Club pavilion last week. The party was to celebrate the twenty-first birthday of their daughter, Miss Elphine Laing. The hall was tastefully arranged with summer flowers, feathery foliage, and softly shaded lights. Mrs. Laing received the guests in a navy blue floral georgette and coatee to tone.
